Types of exercise

There are so many types of exercise it isn’t funny. The thing about exercise is that you must enjoy something about it or you will not do it long-term. For example, you can enjoy the workout, or you can enjoy talking to the buddy you planned on exercising with, or you can enjoy the television show that you planned your workout around, or the solitude you feelĀ  at the club, or the music you listen to, etc.

Figure out your physical abilities first. If you love dancing, then a program like Jazzercise may be perfect for you. If you feel as though you have two left feet, then you wouldn’t feel successful at Jazzercise. If you love fresh air, then perhaps walking or running or a combination is perfect for you. If you love fresh air but HATE being alone, walk or run, but plan on doing it with a buddy.

I know it sounds like I’m suggesting you try Jazzercise, well I am! It is a full body workout, unlike running or walking or the elliptical or the bike. An exercise class that changes up what you do every few minutes works more of your body. Every health club has exercise classes where you move your body–try one of those. Make sure you try most formats before saying NO. Sometimes the format doesn’t work for you, or the instructor, or the music.

Don’t have the time? Try putting a beach towel on the floor in front of the television–I KNOW you have time to watch t.v.–and do leg lifts during the commercials. More on this on the 30th!
