What is your purpose?

Sunday I heard Steve Scheibner speak. What a powerful testimony he has, if you ever get a chance to hear him speak, grab it! An amazing 9/11 story that you MUST hear.

But I digress. On Sunday, Steve talked about John 21:1-14. He reminded us that Peter counted the fish in this passage. If Peter counted the fish, how important were those fish to him? Then Steve went on to ask, do you love Him more than fish? Meaning do you love Jesus more than whatever you hold close–your job, prestige, your fancy home or car, money, country club memberships (you name that item here for yourself). Or do you love that thing more than Jesus?

In this message, Steve also brought into mind the first time Jesus met Peter. He told Peter he would make him a fisher of men (Matt 4:19). In John 21, Peter should have been fishing for men instead of fish.

So, what is your purpose for being here–what are you fishing for?
