Book Review : Second Chance Brides

If you are ready for romance, pick up Second Chance Brides by Vickie McDonough! Another fabulous novel by Vickie, you will not be disappointed 🙂

Backcover copy:

Two mail-order brides are stuck in Lookout, Texas, when the man they came to marry weds someone else. With many men in town and few women, marriage proposals are abundant, but finding an honorable, hardworking man that a woman can trust with her heart is difficult. Will they have to settle for loveless marriages?

The marshal orders the Corbett brothers to pay room and board for the two brides they brought to town under questionable circumstances. The brothers start hosting Saturday socials for the county’s unmarried folk, in hopes that someone will catch the eye of the two women and free the brothers from their financial burden. But matchmaking isn’t exactly their forte. Will their plans backfire? Or will the women have a second chance at being a bride?

This is the second novel in a three novel series named  the Texas Boardinghouse Brides. Vickie has a way of creating characters with flaws that the reader truly cares about. This novel followed two women as they attempted to navigate through a very difficult time : deciding what to do after the man they came to marry weds another woman. Should they stay? Should they leave? Do they have money to start a life elsewhere? The novel began with conflict and continued throughout, making it a page turner!

I especially enjoyed the situation Shannon found herself in towards the end of the book. After you read this novel, let me know what you were rooting for her to do!
